Last week, it was reported that the hacking group, ShinyHunters, had allegedly breached Ticketmaster’s security and compromised the data of a staggering 560 million users. In all, 1.3 terabytes of information includes names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, and possible payment details like expiration dates and the final four digits of credit card numbers. As the first reporters of the story, an article for Hackread entitled “Hackers Claim Ticketmaster Data Breach: 560 Million Users’ Info For Sale at $500k” explained:

“This isn’t Ticketmaster’s first encounter with cybersecurity issues. On January 26, 2023, the company admitted that ticket sales for Taylor Swift’s concerts were disrupted by a bot-driven attack, highlighting vulnerabilities in their ticketing system. Furthermore, back in January 2021, Ticketmaster was found guilty of hacking into a rival company, Songkick, to obtain confidential information. This criminal activity led to a $10 million settlement paid to the victim company.”
